Effective from the
1st of March 2008, Auto Europe will apply a new re-booking and
cancellation policy throughout Europe.
Please note effective from this day, fees will apply for
re-bookings or cancellations 48 hrs prior to pick-up or later.
The fee is calculated in reference to the rental price for three
days. The new regulation replaces the former settlement with
re-bookings and cancellations being free of charge up to 24
hours prior to pick-up. As a matter of course, re-bookings and
cancellations made more than 48 hrs prior to pick-up will
continue to be free of charge.
Even with this regulation, Auto Europe remains one of the most
customer friendly car rental brokers – competing companies
generally charge more expensive cancellations. |

Tip:
Foreigners planning to rent a car in South Africa,
are advised of the following:
You will need a valid drivers license,
your passport and and at least an International drivers license valid for
period of your stay in South Africa.
Generally a rental deposit will be required, so a credit card would be handy
too, the larger rental agencies offer online booking and reservation
services.
Our leading Car Rental agencies allow easy drop-off and
collection points at Johannesburg, Cape Town Durban airports, these are
well advertised, and accessible from the terminal buildings.
We drive on left side of the road in South Africa and rental cars are
right hand drive. Road conditions throughout South Africa are generally
very good which makes South Africa's nine provinces a great place to
explore by means of a self drive holiday.
Avoid driving long
distances at night if you are unfamiliar with the route, try doing most of
your road travel during the day, this way you will also see more of our
spectacular countryside. If you have do need to drive through the night,
remember to stop every 2 hours, to stretch your legs and to prevent
micro-naps.
Road maps can be purchased
at airports, most book stores and most gas or fuel stations country wide. We
have a good network of modern gas stations on main routes that offer rest
rooms, restaurants and convenience shops that make long drives a pleasure.
Stop have some coffee and something to eat, read the newspaper and
travel on.
